Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is the vibrant capital city of Malaysia. It is known for its towering skyscrapers, bustling streets, and diverse cuisine alongside the influence from Malay, Chinese and Indian culture. Kuala Lumpur is a major hub for trade, commerse and tourism and boasts a rich history and cultural heritage that is reflected in its architecture, museums, and art galleries. Despite its rapid development and modernization, Kuala Lumpur has managed to preserve its unique identity, making it a must-visit destination for tourists and travelers alike.
There are 11 growth centre that have been specifically chosen, and each urban centre has a 1 km research radius. Based on the significance of Kuala Lumpur’s commercial district, some places in the district centre and neighbourhood centre were selected . It has been chosen to be compared to another growing centre. The intensity of development in the chosen area that contributes to urban growth and the city’s economy will be used to measure the differences between growth centres in Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur Smart City Master Plan 2021 to 2025 is Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur's (DBKL) major initiative to better implement emerging technologies that would improve city service delivery for its broad community. DBKL plans to transform Kuala Lumpur into the smartest city in the country.
This Master Plan is demonstrated on the works done by applying the three-staged Gap Analysis approach with a significant focus on co-creation to align with the definition of Kuala Lumpur Smart City. This approach had allowed DBKL to focus on different deliverables at each phase and to engage with various stakeholders more systematically. The process had also provided DBKL with opportunities to review every output before making the final report.
The desired outcomes of the Kuala Lumpur Smart City Master Plan are smart economy, smart living, smart environment, smart people, smart government, smart mobility, smart digital infrastructure.
